Canoe & Sea Kayak  Hire Service for the Great Glen Canoe Trail …. and elsewhere

Snowgoose Mountain Centre offers one of the most comprehensive services in Scotland for open canoes, river & sea kayak hire for the Caledonian Canal canoe trail and elsewhere.

Save yourself the hassle of trailing kayaks or canoes up here to Scotland or the expense of owning a boat if you use it only once or twice a year. We can provide you with everything you need to get on the water without fuss and in safety. Canoes / kayaks can be picked up from our base just outside Fort William at Corpach. Or we can drop off the boats for you locally to start at the top of Neptune’s Staircase after you have been fitted out with paddles & buoyancy aids.

All our open (Canadian style) canoes, sea & river  kayaks are available for hire on a 1 or multiple day basis – there is a half day (3 hour) minimum charge. The price includes as standard paddles, spray decks where needed, buoyancy aids plus full expedition & camping gear hire packages.

A full shuttle service can be provided for your trip from Fort William, plus with very little hassle a pick up for your group from Inverness, Glasgow or Edinburgh Airports can be arranged.

You may be a competent paddler or  who wants to go off independently on an over night tour or multi day expedition, then we have (more or less) everything you will require for a half  day or up to a week.

We are also happy to hire to less experienced  couples, families, groups of friends & Duke of Edinburgh Award groups at Silver & Gold levels. (we are DofE AAP – Approved Activity Provider)However all of your group should have sufficient and relevant skills & experience to look after yourself and others in the group (in poor weather) to enjoyably and safely undertake the major journey along the 70 miles of the Great Glen Canoe Trail from Fort William to Inverness. Or indeed any other wilderness paddling trip you are planning by open canoe or sea kayak.

Taking part in outdoor adventure activities at what ever level or time of year can be a challenge in itself. With our variable weather in the Highlands of Scotland, unless you all have the correct equipment and experience you will not get as much out of it as you should. You need to be dry, warm and more importantly comfortable in the great outdoors. If you are new to an activity but have some experience it is far better to hire gear. Or even better a qualified guide or instructor to show you the ropes so that you see if this is the sport for you. Beg, borrow or…. if you are new to the game but do not spend hundreds of pounds on in-appropriate gear.  But you will need to come with appropriate outdoor personal clothing – we do not provide this. Want to try a new adventure activity but not too sure if this is for you? We supply quality, name branded equipment, clean, which is well maintained and in good condition because everyone deserves to use the best without paying the earth.

Need a suggestion? Give us a call. We are more than happy to advise on a suitable paddling journey to fit your groups’ individual needs. For your own safety we require some evidence of prior experience. Our local knowledge will open up many options for all levels of independent paddling as well as giving long standing local expertise and information.

We can talk about paddling almost as well as doing it!
